Sexual assault is any unwanted act of a sexual nature. This includes a range of offences involving everything from inappropriate touching to vaginal, oral, or anal penetration. Sexual assaults are crimes of aggression where sex is the weapon used.

Victim Services are confidential, free and available to anyone who’s been raped or sexually assaulted, now or in the past. We can help, regardless of whether you have told the police or anyone else about the attack.

We can visit you at home (if you want us to, and if doing so will not put you at further risk) or somewhere else if you prefer. If you choose to report the attack, we can go to the police station with you. If you give evidence in court, Victim Witness Assistance can help you to cope with the experience. We can also give you information about criminal injuries compensation

Only you can decide whether or not to report the assault to the police. If you don’t know what to do, we can talk with you about what it would mean and what your options are

For Friends, Family & Partners of Rape & Sexual Abuse Survivors

If you are a secondary survivor – a parent, friend or partner of a survivor of sexual assault we understand that providing support to loved ones in the aftermath of sexual assault can be incredibly difficult, and we thank you for being there for the survivor in your life.
Knowing that someone you care about has been hurt may leave you feeling overwhelmed. Often times both survivors and their supporters struggle with feeling helpless in the aftermath, and it can take some time to learn how to respond. For many survivors, support is a crucial part of the healing process, and receiving compassionate and validating responses from friends and family can make a real difference. Victim Services can provide you with information on ways to support the survivor.
