The Family Court Support Program assists people who have experienced domestic violence and who are involved in, or about to enter, family court proceedings. Legal proceedings are confusing at the best of times, let alone when someone is experiencing the trauma of abuse.

Our Family Court Worker can assist in every stage of the Family Court process. The Family Court Support Worker will:

  • provide information about the family court process

  • help you prepare for family court proceedings

  • refer you to other specialized services and supports in the community

  • help with safety planning, such as getting to and from court safely

  • accompany you to court proceedings, where appropriate.

Our Family Court Support program works in all communities across the District of Parry Sound.

It is recognized that the process of separation and divorce represents one of the most dangerous junctures in an abusive relationship, and our Court Support Worker is trained to ensure that you will have an effective safety plan in place.
